RealEstate

Buy, rent, and lease protected claims.

RealEstate is a GriefPrevention expansion that lets players sell, rent, and lease claims or subclaims. It is used when you want to transfer a protected area cleanly without removing claim protection first.

Overview

With RealEstate, claim transactions happen directly through signs attached to a GriefPrevention claim or subclaim. This keeps the process simple for both owners and buyers.

Important:
RealEstate only works as an addon to GriefPrevention, so the land must already be claimed before it can be sold, rented, or leased.

What It Can Do

  • Sell a claim or subclaim outright to another player.
  • Rent a protected area for temporary access.
  • Lease a claim through scheduled payments until ownership transfers.

Selling Claims

Use a sign with this format:

[sell]
<price>

  • Sneak-right-click the sign to view the sale information.
  • Right-click the sign normally to buy the claim.
  • After the purchase is completed, the sign is destroyed automatically.

When Selling Makes Sense

  • Use it for shops, starter houses, land parcels, or finished builds you want to hand off permanently.
  • Make sure buyers understand exactly which claim or subclaim they are purchasing before they click.
  • Keep signs placed clearly so the intended transaction is obvious.

Renting Claims

Use a sign with this format:

[rent]
<price>
<duration>

  • Renting gives the renter temporary build access to the claim or subclaim.
  • Rented areas may be renewed if the renter wants to keep the space longer.
  • Players can manage renewals with /re renewrent enable or /re renewrent disable.

Duration Examples

  • 1 week 2 days = 9 days
  • 2 weeks = 14 days
  • 3 day = 3 days
  • 12w 5d = 89 days
  • 3d = 3 days

Leasing Claims

Use a sign with this format:

[lease]
<payment amount>
<number of payments>
<interval>

Lease signs split a purchase into repeated payments. Once all required payments are completed, the buyer keeps the claim.

Lease Example

[lease]
10
3
1d

This means the buyer makes 3 payments of 10, spaced 1 day apart. After the final payment is completed, the claim stays with the buyer.

OneSMP Notes

  • Use claim transactions carefully and only with players you trust to follow the agreed terms.
  • Double-check claim boundaries before buying, renting, or leasing so there is no confusion about what area is included.
  • If a transaction affects shared bases, towns, shops, or community builds, make sure everyone involved understands the ownership change first.
